The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that its Rivers State chapter conference scheduled for Saturday will take place.
This was made by the party’s national organizing secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Algungu, in a statement on Friday.
Sulaiman Argungu said the party leadership’s decision to press ahead with the holding of the Rivers State Assembly followed a court ruling nullifying an earlier order restraining the holding of the party.
The APC national secretary stressed that the party remains committed to due process and the rule of law.
He appealed to party officials and workers to work towards the success of the Congress in the state.
“The All Progressives Congress (APC) Rivers State Electoral Assembly scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2024, will be held as scheduled.
“The ex parte order in Suit No: PHC/2699/CS/2024 between Mr. Peter Okochukwu and Anor v. His Excellency Abdullahi Ganduje and 5 Ors which initially restrained the holding of APC meetings has been vacated.
“The Rivers State High Court has ruled that there is no order preventing the APC from organizing the Rivers State Electoral Congress.
“In light of this development, the APC moves forward with Congress reaffirming its commitment to due process and the rule of law,” the statement from the national secretary reads in part.
