A former commissioner, Mr Musa Kwankwaso, has warned President Bola Tinubu against entering into any agreement with the national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Mr Rabiu Kwankwaso.
He alleged that Kwankwaso had a tendency to break political agreements.
Mr Kwankwaso, who served as a commissioner under the administration of former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, said any agreement that Mr Tinubu wanted with the NNPP strongman would have to be made in the presence of All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in Kano. He said it would not be possible.
On Monday, the APC leader told reporters: “It is no longer a secret that President Tinubu met with Mr. Kwankwaso and discussed the possibility of merging his party with the ruling APC.” However, this must be done carefully.
“The President has been involved in all discussions with Kwankwaso with Senate Vice President Balau Jibrin, House Majority Leader Alhassan Ado Doguwa, House Appropriations Committee Chairman Abubakar Bichi, and Kano APC leadership, including State Housing. It would be wise to include Minister Tijani Gwarzo, State APC Chairman Abdullahi Abbas, other elected officials, and above all APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.
“I say this because I know what kind of person Kwankwaso is. It is not difficult for him to betray the talks, regardless of the fact that he is with the president. Therefore, the leadership of the party , especially having Mr. Kano as a witness.”
According to former commissioners, Mr Kwankwaso will be the biggest beneficiary of the rumored partnership plans as he is already losing his position within the NNPP.
“President Tinubu learns that Kwankwaso is losing his position in the NNPP as many of his party supporters, including some elected officials from Nasarawa State, have deserted the party and joined the APC. Should.
“In Kano as well, Mr. Kwankwaso’s stronghold in the new party is gradually losing its presence, with many supporters leaving the party, and it is reported that some influential members of the National Assembly have also left the party.
“As a professional and wise politician, I think President Tinubu understands why Mr. Kwankwaso is nervous now. He is losing political relevance. That is why he is willing to take any position that the APC government presents. I will accept it,” the former committee chairman said.
