Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader, Mr Dele Momodu, has expressed regret over the N50 million spent on purchasing PDP presidential candidate forms.
Naija New a reports that Momodu while speaking on the podcast “Key to Keys” explained that the PDP primaries generate a lot of revenue.
The publisher of Ovation Magazine has revealed that the candidates donated $30,000 to each of the 774 delegates during the 2022 PDP presidential primaries.
He also said he has no intention of running for president for any political party unless he is accepted as a consensus candidate.
He said, “No, experience is the best teacher and I realized that there is a power that can be called a principality that rules over Nigeria.
“Unless the major political parties decide to recruit me through consensus that Dele Modu is the best person to transform and lead Nigeria, I can consider it.
“But if I have to choose money and buy a presidential candidate paper for about 100 million naira, I spent about N50 million to buy that paper. I could have done it, but it was for nothing. No one voted for me. Not a single vote because everything was monetized.
“Some of the candidates paid as much as $30,000 per delegate, and they had 774 delegates, so how do you compete with them? In the rich areas, they blindly stole the country and did all kinds of transactions to make money.
“It’s not easy and that’s why you can’t compete with them. That’s why they insult Nigerians anyway because of the amount of money available in raw cash. There is no country in the world that controls it.
“Most of their money is not in any banks, so it cannot be traced. If you ask any politician today, ‘I need $500 million to become president,’ they will tell you right away.” So where do people like us start? I don't care. ”
