The Benue State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ezekiel Addaji, said the party would use Saturday’s local government polls as a litmus test for 2027.
Mr. Adaji said this in Makurdi on Friday when he assumed the leadership of the party in the state.
The chairman expressed confidence that the party won a resounding victory on Saturday, heralding success for the party in subsequent elections.
He said the parliamentary polls would send a signal that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would lose power in 2027.
“We are fully prepared for tomorrow’s elections and will do everything possible to achieve victory.
“Benue is a PDP state. Therefore, the man currently residing in the government house is a caretaker. We will evict him in 2027.
“We held a peaceful state assembly on Thursday under the auspices of the PDP National Secretariat.
“They held elections and inaugurated a new state working committee immediately after the exercise.
“We are here to work in earnest for local government elections,” he said.
