The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has secured victory for the chairmanship in 10 local government areas of Plateau State after the local government elections held in the state on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
Naija News reports that the Chairman of the Plateau State Electoral Commission and Officer-in-Charge for all 17 Local Government Areas, Mr. Pranji Chishaku, on Thursday told the committee in Jos where the final collation process is still underway. The results were announced at the headquarters.
Chishak said the results of the remaining seven local governments have not yet been announced.
The PDP, which is currently in power in Plateau State, has so far claimed the following local councils:
1.B/Lady
2.Tangerine
3. Shendam
4. Bassa
5. Riyomu
6. Jos South
7. Jos East
8. Kanam
9. Quan Pan
10. Lantern South
The other seven local authorities whose results are awaited are:
1. Punxin
2. Mangu
3.Early maturation
4. Joss North
5. Kanke
6. Boccos
7. Lantern North
Naija News reported that the elections were held in all 17 LGAs and over 300 wards in the state.
Before the election, Governor Caleb Mutofan declared a public holiday to increase voter turnout.
The holiday, which was originally declared on Wednesday, was later extended to Thursday for final verification.
