The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has expressed its heartfelt condolences to the families of the three victims killed in an ambush by kidnappers on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Ihiala Orlu Road in Anambra State.
The victims, who included a cameraman, a police officer and a bus driver, were part of a SuperSport crew heading to Uyo to cover the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Nigeria and Libya.
In a statement released by the federation, the NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, acknowledged the deep sadness felt by the Executive Committee and staff following the tragic incident. “It is true that we won the game against Libya and gained three points, but the loss of three lives created a situation where we were unable to properly celebrate, and just remembering the unfortunate incident is heartbreaking.” Masu.
