BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – UPDATE (October 12, 2024, 9:45 p.m.): Five fires north of Double Ditch in northwest Burley County are now 80% contained, according to the North Dakota Department of Emergency Services. He said he did.
UPDATE (October 12, 2024, 9:00 p.m.): A strike team from Washington state and five fire engines were headed to the Bearden Fire in northwestern North Dakota under an agreement with the North Dakota Forest Service. Assisting in extinguishing the rerouted fire north of Bismarck.
UPDATE (October 12, 2024, 8:00 p.m.): Burleigh County Emergency Manager Mary Senger said fire conditions were slowing as of 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
He said there were a total of five fires in the area at that time.
She confirmed that the fire is currently about 50% contained.
Emergency management officials are asking the public to avoid the area at this time.
Original story (October 12, 2024, 6:30 p.m.): Burleigh County emergency managers say there are four fires burning near the Double Ditch area as of Saturday evening. They estimate the fire to be about a mile long.
Agencies involved include the North Dakota Forest Service, Bismarck Regional Fire Department, Wilton Regional Fire Department, and Bismarck Fire Department. The National Guard also deployed two Black Hawks.
