The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano has formally announced the suspension of two prominent party leaders, the Secretary of State to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Abdullahi Buffa Bichi and the Secretary of Transport, Mr. Muhammad Digol.
The suspension was confirmed by National Party Chairman Hashim Sulaiman Dungrawa in an interview with Daily Trust late on Monday.
The announcement followed the distribution of an audio clip in which Dangrawa revealed the decision, which has since gone viral.
The two men were suspended on suspicion of dishonesty, abuse of power and causing chaos among party members, Dungurawa said.
The Chairperson stated that the actions of Mr. Bici and Mr. Digol undermined the unity and effectiveness of the party and required their suspension.
“Today, we announce the suspension of SSG Abdullahi Bah Bati and Transport Secretary Mohammad Digol for abuse of power, abuse of power and party loyalty,” he said.
“We commend the leadership of the district party and the local government also recognizes us. They are all from Bichi North who brought this issue to us in writing.
“As party leaders, we believe this is the best decision until the investigation into this matter is complete.”
