Naija News reports that this was disclosed during a meeting with political party representatives on Thursday, October 17, at the INEC headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking at the conference, INEC National President, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu, announced that the next election is scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025.
He said, “As you are aware, the last gubernatorial election in Anambra State was held on November 6, 2021. As time passes, the gubernatorial election is scheduled for next year.
“As a result, the commission has approved the 2025 Anambra State governorship election to be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
“In accordance with the mandatory requirement of 360 days, the formal notification of elections will be announced on November 13, 2024. Party primaries will be held from March 20, 2025 to April 10, 2025.”
“The nomination portal will open on April 18, 2025 at 9:00 am and close on May 12, 2025 at 6:00 pm. The final list of candidates will be published on June 9, 2025.”
“Public campaigning by political parties will begin on June 11, 2025 and end at midnight on Thursday, November 6, 2025. Voting will begin on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at all 5,720 polling stations in the state. It will be done.”
“In the coming weeks, the commission will provide details on other election activities, such as registering new voters, relocating voters, and replacing lost or damaged PVC.
“The detailed timetable and schedule of activities for the 2025 Anambra State governorship election will be uploaded on our website and social media platforms before the conclusion of this session.”
