A new report has surfaced on the internet that novelist, playwright and film director Biyi Bandele has passed away.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reported that the famous film director passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2022, in Lagos at the age of 54.
In a statement on behalf of his family, Temi Bandele, the deceased’s daughter, described him as “an extraordinarily talented writer and filmmaker, a loyal friend and beloved father."
However, a recent report in the Guardian UK newspaper on Sunday revealed that Bandele committed suicide in August 2022.
According to the newspaper, the filmmaker took his life in early April 2022, a day after he had a conversation with his editor, Hannah Chukwu, about his novel, “Yoruba Boy Running.”
After discussions, Bandele sent a revised version of the manuscript to his editor before committing suicide, the paper said.
“The next day, the 54-year-old film director, playwright, and novelist took his own life," the paper said.
“He left behind an impressive and surprisingly diverse body of work.
