The All Progressives Congress (APC) won all 23 chairpersonship seats and 255 councilorship seats in the local government elections held by the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Management Commission (KAD-SIECOM) on Saturday.
Announcing the results, the commission’s chairman, Hajara Mohammed, said eight political parties participated in the elections, with APC winning 23 chairmanships and 255 councilor positions.
She added that the ruling APC won in local governments including Birnin Gwari, Chikun, Igabi, Ikara, Jaba, Jemaa, Kachia, Kaduna North and Kaduna South.
According to the chairman, other local governments won by the APC are Kagaruko, Kajuru, Kaura, Kual, Kubau, Kudan, Lele, Makarfi, Sabon Gari, Sanga, Soba, Zango Kataf and Zaria.

Shortly after voting at LEA Kawo polling station O47 in Kaduna North Local Government Area, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the elections across the state.
He noted that the election was generally free, fair and peaceful, with only minor problems reported in the three polling stations and districts.
The governor emphasized the importance of local government elections and said the turnout across the 23 local government areas was satisfactory.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) Kaduna branch said the election was largely peaceful and transparent despite delays in the arrival of voting materials in some areas.
