Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has described Nigeria as a graveyard of unimplemented policies by past and present administrations.
He spoke at a lecture and awards ceremony organized by the Nigerian Society of Astronautical Engineers (NISE) in Abuja over the weekend.
The theme of the lecture was “Nigeria’s 21st Year of Space: Achievements, Challenges and Prospects”.

The former president said the habit of abandoning policies had stalled Nigeria's progress.
He pointed out that many policies, especially in the field of space technology, remain unimplemented or unimplemented.
According to him, this situation is prevalent in other sectors as well and is counterproductive for the country.
“Having good policies is not enough. Nigeria is not lacking in good policies. In fact, if you go to our archives, you will find that we are not where we should be. It is a burial ground for the unimplemented policies that left us behind.
“There are many policies that are unimplemented, unimplemented and dead. What I am saying is that it is not enough to have policies,” he added.
The elder statesman said this development was slowing down the country’s development, adding that good countries were open to talks.
“That’s why we’re in a place we shouldn’t be. Those who made progress didn’t do it just by wishing. They took active steps,” he said.
Mr. Obasanjo criticized the inaction of successive governments in establishing the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) space program.
He said his administration had planned to launch Nigeria’s first satellite but regretted that little progress had been made.
