Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has said those fighting him are digging their own graves.
Naija News reported that Wike and his successor, Siminalai Hubala, are at odds over control of Rivers State.
However, the minister, addressing his supporters and factional members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday, said he has the ability to decide what happens in Rivers State.
He said, “Now we have to fight the Wike. Which Wike are you fighting? You are digging your own grave. I tell you, it hasn’t started yet.''
“We have the capacity. We have the capacity. Forget them. In Rivers State, we are going to sit down and agree on what will happen. What they are doing Does it work? No, it never works.”
Why I did not support Peter Obi in the 2023 elections despite lobbying – Wike
Meanwhile, Mr Wike claimed that his camp is fighting Peter Obi, the Labor Party (LP) presidential candidate for the 2023 election, as he refused to stand with him during the campaign.
Wike spoke at a private luncheon with stakeholders in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on Saturday, Naija News reports.
The minister hosted a luncheon in commemoration of the Martin Amayuru-led faction of the Rivers House of Assembly.
The former Rivers State governor has said he has refused to support Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election despite numerous lobbying requests for his support.
Mr Wike said Mr Obi turned down lobbyists because he could not win elections.
He added that some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which is eyeing the 2027 presidential ticket, are also colluding against him.
Wike boasted that his political opponents would not win.
He said, “Peter Obi’s group worked so hard on me. They can’t deny it. And I said, ‘Look, this isn’t going to fly.’ “Rivers State will not vote for no-fly areas.” There was some gang violence, and I say, “Look, enough is enough.” They want to fight back against us. They are at war with themselves.
“There is another gang within the PDP that wants to be president and they are saying, ‘If we don’t do something now, we have a problem.’ I assure you they have a problem.
“There is another APC, very prominent. If all these guys come together, they will lose.”
