The Nigerian Railways Corporation has appointed Mr. Ben Iloanusi as Acting Managing Director following the expiration of Mr. Fidet Ohilia’s second four-year term.
The handover took place on October 18, with Iloanusi assuming the role of leader of the organization.
In a statement released on Sunday, Yakub Mahmood, NRC’s deputy director of communications, confirmed the transfer and provided context on Iloanusi’s qualifications and experience.
Iloanusi joined the NRC in 2011 and rose through the ranks to become its most senior executive director. Since 2019, he has served as Deputy Director of Procurement. He holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and an MBA in International Management from South Bank University, London.
In his farewell speech, Mr. Fidet Ohlia thanked the NRC staff for their support during his tenure and encouraged his successor to extend similar cooperation.
“I urge the management and staff of the company to extend the same cooperation and understanding to the acting managing director,” Okilia said.
In response, Mr. Iloanusi appealed for the support of NRC staff and welcomed constructive criticism aimed at improving the organization’s performance.
He confirmed his focus on efficiently guiding the company through this transition phase.
