Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd are gearing up to release new music following their breakup.
This week, Morris and Heard revealed that they will each release new singles on Friday, October 25th.
Morris, 34, announced his song “People Still Show Up” on Instagram on Tuesday, Oct. 22, by sharing what appears to be the single’s cover art.
The day before, Heard, 37, announced her new single on Instagram with a photo of herself holding a cardboard sign that read “This party sucks.” In the next slide, a cardboard sign says “On sale Friday.”
He said in a follow-up post that the video for the song would also be released on Friday.
“And the news continues. The worst video of this party will be released on Friday. If you watch it all, you’ll get lucky for 3 years. Next time you see me, I’ll buy you a beer. ๐ป” he wrote in the caption. .
Heard and Morris’ divorce was finalized in January, three months after Morris filed for “irreconcilable differences.” They have been married for five years and have a four-year-old son, Hayes.
Speaking to PEOPLE in August, Morris said that although she draws inspiration from her divorce, her focus remains on her children.
“I don’t want to be disrespectful in any way and I don’t feel the need, because I think we have so much love for each other and for our son. So what comes out musically It’s all our perspective and we have to process it our way,”’ she said. “Now it’s my turn. I’m just moving forward in the way I know I can.”

Still, while she has no regrets, she admitted that singing songs inspired by her ex-girlfriend can hurt.
“There’s clearly a place for songs written about the love of life,” Morris continued. “In a way, I don’t want to say that I’m on autopilot with songs like this so that I don’t feel the pain, but that’s the reality. Those songs have meaning and they mean something to people, so it’s very It’s a wonderful gift.” โ

Morris’ EP, Intermission, released on August 2nd, explores how she got over her divorce and moved on.
“This feels like an amazing journey of discovery,” she tells PEOPLE, “and also the heartbreak of the death of a relationship and the fun and joy that you discover in the aftermath of such trauma and tragedy.” added.
During an appearance on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert Podcast on Sept. 25, she opened up about writing “This Is How a Woman Leaves.” At first, she was “nervous” that people would get the wrong idea. Although she has written songs about “people who despised me,” Heard is not one of them.
“But at the end of the day, I can’t control the perception of people who hear my songs. With (‘This Is How a Woman Leaves’), I can only imagine the healing that will happen live. I did. โ she said.
She continued, “I can already imagine myself writing a song and crying with people I don’t know at a show, and then going to a show and thinking I’m just a patron in the crowd.” Sometimes the most special thing is bonding with a bunch of people’ strangers. โ
