Two years later, Dawari George, an ally of former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, has officially returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Naija News reports that George, who held the position of Secretary of Energy and Natural Resources during the Amaechi administration, left the APC in 2022 and joined the Action Alliance Party, under which he ran as a gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 elections. I’m reminiscing about that.
It is noteworthy that when asked about defecting from the APC to the AA in 2022, the former congressman expressed to reporters that he is “hungry to serve.”
On his return to the APC, George received a warm welcome from the APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, along with members of the National Working Committee at the party headquarters in Abuja.
The former gubernatorial candidate did not speak to the media after meeting with party leadership.
However, the APC subsequently released a short statement confirming his return to the party.
The statement read: “Action Alliance’s 2023 Rivers State Governorship Candidate, Dr. Dawari Ibietela George, has returned to the progressive family. He today attended the National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar, at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja. He was received by Dr. Ganduje and other members of the National Working Committee.”
