The Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has announced that it has recovered the fifth body from a helicopter crash that occurred in the Atlantic Ocean in Port Harcourt, Rivers on October 24.
This was contained in a statement signed by the NSIB’s Director of Public Affairs and Family Support, Mr. Bimbo Oladeji, on Wednesday night.
The agency said it is continuing a coordinated recovery effort and investigation following the crash of a Sikorsky SK76 helicopter, registration number 5N BQG, operated by Eastwind Aviation.
A total of five bodies have been recovered so far, the statement said, with the fifth body recovered today requiring specialized handling due to its decomposed state before being transferred to the morgue. .
NSIB Director-General Alex Badet said the agency will continue to work with domestic and international partners to ensure a diligent recall and investigation process.
