The Labor Party (LP) leadership has disowned former National Treasurer Oluchi Opara over allegations of corruption.
Naija News reports that the party disclosed this in a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Obiora Ifor, on Thursday.
The statement declared that Mr. Opara was suspended indefinitely as a party member in November 2023 for suspected anti-party activities, and stressed that the suspension remains in effect.
The party called on Opara to stop flaunting herself as the national women leader, pointing out that she is not the party’s national women leader and has never contested to become the national women leader. Ta.
The LP further described Opara as a fraudster, adding that she has been seen on various occasions blackmailing the organization by pretending to be the national women leader of the LP.
The statement said: “A person who impersonates another person in order to deceive others, especially in order to obtain ill-gotten gains, is a fraudster.
“Her recent actions in using her position as National Women’s Leader of the Labor Party to seek financial patronage therefore amount to impersonation.
“According to information available to us, Ms Oluchi has been seen on various occasions pretending to be the National Women’s Leader of the Labor Party in order to blackmail these organisations.
“This development has left Labor so embarrassed that we are putting this disclaimer in place.
“For the record, the National Women’s Leader of the Labor Party is Mrs. Dudu Manuga.
“She alone has a constitutional duty to oversee the activities of millions of Labor Party women in Nigeria and around the world.”
