Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC Lagos Area Command on Thursday night arrested controversial Nigerian cross-dresser Idris Okuneye alias Bobrisky on his way to London.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that the arrest of the male Barbie doll was revealed on Instagram by Isaac Fayose, brother of the former Ekiti State governor, who said he was “on the same flight to London” as cross-dresser Bobrisky. It was reported that this took place immediately after.
Isaac, who had previously condemned Bobrisky’s detention by police, shared a photo of himself with the self-identified transgender man on his Instagram page Thursday night.
“Look who’s on the same flight to London @bobrisky222,” he wrote.
However, in a recent post, Bobrisky, who has been inactive on social media due to his recent detention, appealed to Nigerians for help and revealed that he was arrested and seriously injured by anti-corruption authorities.
“Nigerians rescued me. EFCC has just arrested me. I am seriously injured,” he said.
TNG recalls that a transvestite was arrested by the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) at the Seme border on suspicion of attempting to flee the country.
The social media celebrity was later transferred to the Lagos FCID in Alagbon for further investigation.
The current status of Bobrisky’s detention, including the possibility of bail, remains unclear.
Bobrisky, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS) are under investigation by a House of Representatives committee for bribery.
Her ordeal began after a transvestite shared an audio conversation in which Berry Darkman claimed to have paid N15 million to some EFCC officials to get money laundering charges dropped.
In the recording, she claimed that due to the influence of “The Godfather,” she spent her six months in prison in an apartment instead of in Kirikiri Prison.
