Rivers Restoration Movement (RRM), a coalition of stakeholders, has made derogatory remarks about the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, labeling the Yoruba community as traitors. He condemned the recent statements of Niger Delta freedom fighter Asari Dokubo. .
In a statement issued by RRM Executive Director Johnson Georgewill, the group called Asari Dokubo’s claims “misinformed and misleading,” calling his claims half-truths and complete falsehoods. It was rejected as such.
In a trending video, Mr. Asari Dokubo claimed that he did not support Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminarai Hubala, and threatened that the Ijaw people would align with northern interests in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.
RRM refuted these claims, saying Asari Dokubo’s statements regarding the Yoruba people were unwarranted and baseless.
Georgewill stressed that Asari Dokubo’s statements do not represent the broader interests of the Niger Delta or the Ijaw people, stressing that political alliances should not be based on divisive rhetoric. .
The RRM statement aims to counter what it calls the “narrative of divisiveness” and urges all stakeholders in the Niger Delta region to seek unity and constructive rather than inflammatory statements. He called for dialogue to be given priority.
Mr George Will said: “Chief Asari Dokubo has no right to speak for the Ijaw people, and 90 percent of the Ijaw leaders who were instrumental in the installation of President Tinubu and Governor Siminiarai Fubara in 2023 are now taking a firm stand against the National Party. It is no secret that we are grateful for the preservation of our country,” Rivers State political leader, His Excellency Nyesom Wike.
“This is evidenced by the fact that 90 per cent of the Rivers State House of Assembly members from the Ijaw tribe are on the minister’s side.
“It is a known fact that Chief Asari Dokubo could not send President Tinubu to his troops and never supported Sir Siminarai Fubara to become governor in 2023. Therefore, to support the President We are surprised by the claim that he spent $2 million on
“The RRM reiterates to the people of Rivers State and Nigerians that the victory of President Tinubu and Governor Siminiarai Hubara in Rivers State was due to the support of His Excellency Nyesom Wike, the leader of Rivers State politics, and his political family. I want people to know this clearly: It belongs to Almighty God.”
RRM pointed out that the country is guided by law and the constitution, so any issues regarding intimidation and intimidation by courts and other institutions have no place in a democracy.
Mr George Will said: “RRM wishes to state that it is clear that Alhaji Asari Dokubo cannot speak for the Ijaws when it comes to where and who they will support in 2027.
“He also has no political system or power to field candidates for elective positions, so calls to disqualify candidates in 2027 should be ignored. I will be forever grateful for what they have done for the couple, especially for their support in ensuring that an Ijaw man becomes the governor of Rivers State after 24 years of this democratic system.
“As a grateful people, we look inward to all political leaders in Rivers State, irrespective of party, for equity and justice, and we urge grateful Ijaws to become governors.” We appeal to the Ijaws to allow them to complete their term of office, because they have supported other ethnic groups to become leaders for two terms.”
