Rivers Restoration Movement (RRM), a coalition of stakeholders, has made derogatory remarks about the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, labeling the Yoruba community as traitors. He condemned the recent statements of Niger Delta freedom fighter Asari Dokubo. .
In a statement issued by RRM Executive Director Johnson Georgewill, the group called Asari Dokubo’s claims “misinformed and misleading,” calling his claims half-truths and complete falsehoods. It was rejected as such.
In a trending video, Mr. Asari Dokubo claimed that he did not support Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminarai Hubala, and threatened that the Ijaw people would align with northern interests in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.
RRM refuted these claims, saying Asari Dokubo’s statements regarding the Yoruba people were unwarranted and baseless.
Georgewill stressed that Asari Dokubo’s statements do not represent the broader interests of the Niger Delta or the Ijaw people, stressing that political alliances should not be based on divisive rhetoric. .
The RRM statement aims to counter what it calls the “narrative of divisiveness” and urges all stakeholders in the Niger Delta region to seek unity and constructive rather than inflammatory statements. He called for dialogue to be given priority.
