Dimeji Ajibola, the Nigerian film director who created the popular series “Shanti Town,” has died.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) has learned that Ajibola passed away today after an undisclosed battle with illness, leaving a void in the Nigerian film industry.
His colleague Samuel Olatunji confirmed the sad news to newsmen.
Rising actress Etta Jomaria also mourned his death, posting an emotional tribute on X.com. She writes: “I just realized that the last moments we spent with director Dimeji Ajibola were not filmed. It’s good because we were living in the moment, but the photos show how loud our laughter was. It’s really sad that I can’t express myself. Life is short, so let’s take pictures!

Ajibola was hailed as a creative force and visionary in the entertainment industry. His work spans film, animation, VFX, virtual worlds, and interactive media.
He has a diverse academic background, studying filmmaking and cinematography at Universal Studios’ New York Film Academy, advanced character animation at Animation Mentor in San Francisco, and visual effects at VFXLearning.
He is the brain behind the 2012 urban musical film Hoodrush, which won Best Picture at the 2012 Green Me Film Festival in Germany, Best Actor and Best Soundtrack at the Nollywood Film Awards. , won multiple awards, including Best Supporting Actor at the AMAA Awards.
