The Kano State House of Assembly leadership has said there are no factions or rifts within the ruling New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) as some online media have speculated.
House Majority Leader Lawan Husseini said this while briefing parliamentary correspondents in Kano on Monday.
He said the press conference was in response to online media reports that 23 out of 26 NNPP members support the political slogan “Abba Tsaya da Cafalca,” which means “Abba, stand up.” He said that.
Husseini also described reports that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf ignored the meeting and refused to answer party leader Sen Rabiu Kwankwaso’s calls as “a fabrication by the opposition.”
The House leader also accused the opposition parties of trying to create a new toxic situation in the state.
He said opposition politicians based in Abuja were creating unnecessary tension to distract the governor from fulfilling his campaign promises.
“This is a fabricated story spread by pranksters. Their aim is to cause discord between Governor Yusuf and his political leadership.
“We honorable party members are 100 per cent loyal to the party leadership under Mr Sen Kwanso and also firmly support Governor Yusuf.
“Opposition politicians based in Abuja are bent on sowing hatred and confusion between Mr. Kwankwaso and his political son.
“The relationship between these two gentlemen has existed for decades and goes beyond politics. I have never heard of any campaign or slogan calling for discord between party members.”
He then reiterated the House of Commons’ determination to ensure effective service delivery.
Two Kano-based NNPP members on Sunday expelled the Kwankwasiya Movement. Two MPs elected on the platform of the NNPP have publicly announced their departure from the Kwankwasiyya movement under the party’s national leader, Sen Kwankwaso.
The members are the following two people. Mr. Aliyu Sani Madakin Zini, a member of the House of Representatives, represents Kano City Federal Constituency and Rano/Kibiya/Bunkure Federal Constituency in Alhassan Rurumu State.
