Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Monday called on former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, at his residence in Lagos.
Fayose, who is known for his outspoken opinions, shared news of the visit on his verified Twitter page, sparking a huge response from his followers and supporters.
Both Makinde and Fayose are prominent figures within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Notably, Fayose has endorsed former Lagos State governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.
Meanwhile, Makinde is a key member of the G5 Presidency, along with other PDP leaders such as Nyesom Wike, and was opposed to the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Fayose’s close aide, Lele Olinka, also confirmed the visit on his Twitter page, saying: “Governor of Oyo State Enguru Seyi Makinde is visiting former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose in Lagos today.”
Ahead of the 2027 elections, there has been speculation about Makinde’s presidential ambitions.
Speaking at the recent PDP South West party conference, Makinde responded to speculation about a possible run for president in 2027, saying only he could decide the direction of his political future.
He stressed that the upcoming elections will be a contest between the ruling party and the people of Nigeria.
