The Zamfara branch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed that former member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Kabiru Kuriku, has left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The state APC Publicity Secretary, Mallam Yusuf Idris, met reporters in Gusau on Thursday and confirmed the defection of the former lawmaker to the APC.
Classic represented Anka/Talata Mafara Federal Constituency on the PDP platform from 2019 to 2023.
Mr Idris said Classic had defected along with the entire PDP leadership in Talata Mafara local government area and 10 of the 11 PDP ward leaders in the area.
He said the former members and other defectors were received by the National APC Chairman, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani, and the Chairman of the political organization, Senator Abdulaziz Yari.
The spokesperson quoted Danfulani as describing the former lawmaker as an experienced politician who has been involved in political development in the state for many years.
“This is a major development for our party as just recently, the incumbent member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Sulaiman Abubakar Gumi (Gumi/Bukuyum constituency), also transferred to the APC due to the alleged crisis in the state PDP branch.
“This shows that there is no internal democracy in the PDP leadership in Zamfara. On behalf of all APC members in Zamfara, we are happy and welcome Classic to our great party. ” Idris added, quoting Danfulani.
He said APC is the party that should continue to prevail with goodwill and enthusiasm to move Zamfara and Nigeria forward.
