The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has said he cannot be intimidated by calls for his arrest on corruption charges.
Mr. Ganduje, in a statement issued on Monday through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Awareness, Mr. Oliver Okpala, said the demand for his arrest was unwarranted.
The APC Chairman said this in response to a petition jointly filed by Dr. Johnson Nbechi and Comrade Umar Ideres, Convener and Spokesperson of the National Anti-Corruption Alliance (NACA), urging the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to said. Investigate Ganduje.
However, the former Kano State governor said the matter was already before the court and the appellants should be wiser than raising a new issue on a matter that is still before the court.
“The issues raised in their petition are key points in the various lawsuits filed by the Kano State government against Dr. Ganduje, which are still being fought in court,” Okpara said. he said.
He said some of the allegations raised by NACA had already been resolved in Ganduje’s favor at the Federal High Court, while other matters were pending in court and that such matters should be referred to law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies. He added that filing a complaint against him would result in a second judicial decision.
“Nigeria is not a lawless society. The judiciary must be allowed to carry out its duties without hindrance or intimidation,” Okpara said.
