Obedient Movement National Coordinator Yunusa Tanko claimed the movement was bigger than the Labor Party (LP).
According to a Naija News report, Tanko said in an interview with Arise News in Abuja on Tuesday that if the LP resists good governance and accountability, the obedience movement is an alternative to serve Nigerians. He said he would explore ideas.
He admitted that the movement faced many setbacks during the 2023 general elections, but was ready to take on the challenges in the next election.
He explained that 1,760 voting units were not covered by Labor and the Obedience Movement now aims to remedy the shortcomings by building a strong base across all units.
He said: “The Obedient movement is bigger than the Labor Party. We have them everywhere: academics, traders, MPs from other parties.
“When it becomes inevitable that the Labor Party is not ready to absorb ideas of good governance, we must look for other opportunities.
“During the 2023 general election, we were rightly accused of not having an organization at every polling station.
“We are prepared and ready to face the challenges.”
Tanko further said that the Obedient movement has now expanded beyond the initial influence of the LP’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, stressing that it has significant support across Nigeria, including the northern region.
Reacting to the disappointment of Nigerians over the actions of Labor MPs elected under Obi’s influence, Tanko stressed the need for structures within the movement to address public grievances.
