The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced the results of Saturday’s gubernatorial election, with All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate Lucky Ayedatiwa leading in 15 local governments so far.
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Agboola Ajayi, is yet to win in any local government field in the state.
The State Returning Officer for Elections and the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University, Lokoja, Kogi State, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, formally inaugurated the State Inquiry Exercise at about 12:10am on Sunday.
In Ifedor LG, APC secured 14,157 votes, defeating PDP which polled 5,897 votes.
In Ondo East LG, APC secured 8,163 votes, defeating PDP which secured 2,843 votes.
In Ileorji/Okeibo LG, APC, 16,600 people, PDP, 4,442 people, and in Idanre LG, APC, 9,114 people, PDP, 8,940 people.
In Irere Local Government, APC secured 17,117 votes while PDP secured 6,601 votes. In Akoko South West, the APC secured 29,700 votes, defeating the PDP which secured 5,517 votes.
According to the results in Owo Local Government Area, APC garnered 31,914 votes, defeating PDP which garnered 4,740 votes.
In Ondo West LG, APC secured 20,755 votes and PDP 6,387 votes.
In Akoko South East LG, APC secured 12,140 votes while PDP secured 2,692 votes.
In Akoko North West, PDP won 5502 while APC won 25010.
The APC also defeated the Ose LG with a total of 16,555 votes while the PDP received 4,472 votes. In Akure South LGA, APC had 32969 votes and PDP 17926 votes.
In Akoko Northeast, APC won with 25,657 votes to PDP’s 5,072 votes.
Following the results of the 15th LG, Akinwumi said the committee would go on a break and resume its session by noon when the results of the last three local governments of Irahe, Ese-Odo and Odigbo will be announced.
