The Accord Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) has dismissed 2023 presidential candidate Professor Christopher Immolen and seven additional members for their alleged involvement in activities deemed detrimental to the party.
Naija News reports that the resolution was agreed during the NEC meeting held in Abuja on Wednesday and was communicated through a statement signed by the National Chairman, Barrister Maxwell Magbudem and the National Secretary, Dr. Adebukola A. Ajaja I understand that it is a thing.
The NEC said the expulsion was based on a recommendation from a seven-member disciplinary committee tasked with investigating allegations of serious misconduct, anti-party conduct and violations of party constitution.
“The NEC unanimously approved, supported and endorsed disciplinary measures against party members who were involved in factionalization of the party, damage to its reputation and violation of the constitution,” the communiqué said.
In addition to Mr. Immolen, the following individuals were also expelled: Mr. Lanre Ogundare, Lagos State Chairman; Suraho Ibrahim, Zamfara State Chairman; Muktar Abdalla, Borno State Chairman; Chief Abiola Samuel Odeoba, former Ekiti State Chairman; Dr. Farae Ajibola, former Chairman, Ondo State; Zingina Jacob Ephraim, Nasarawa State Chairman; and Prince Adebisi Wale Gani.
Additionally, three others were suspended: Salim Lawal Boyi of Katsina City, Fatima Mohammed Zalmi of Yobe City and Abdullahi Issa Kasowa of Bauchi City.
The National Executive Committee (NEC) commended his efforts towards revitalizing and rebranding the Accord in preparation for the 2027 elections, stressing the need to uphold the party constitution to avoid indiscipline, He expressed confidence in Mr. Mgbudem’s leadership.
