The South West chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, over his threat to “take over” Osun and Oyo states in the upcoming election process.
Naija News reports that Ganduje spoke in Akure on Sunday following the victory of the Ondo State governor and APC candidate, Lucky Ayedatiwa, saying, “Our next target in the South-West geopolitical zone is Osun and Oyo states.” I am recalling what he said. Reacting to Mr. Ganduje’s remarks, the PDP South West Executive Council, in a statement released in Ado Ekiti by the party’s Regional Publicity Director, Mr. Sanya Atfalati, on Thursday, called out President Bola Tinubu to Mr. Ganduje regarding the threat. asked to be warned.
Atofalati said: “PDP has threatened President Bola Tinubu with unwarranted threats by APC National Chairman Ganduje who is using APC’s trademark rigging to manipulate the electoral process in Ekiti, Osun and Oyo states. We request that they refrain from doing so.”
“We state without a shadow of a doubt that Ganduje has no moral authority to speak on issues of credibility or democracy.”
The party also expressed disappointment with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the improper conduct of the Ondo governorship election.
The PDP has called on the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to investigate allegations of irregularities by security personnel during the election, alleging deficiencies in the bimodal voter certification system and delays in the arrival of election materials at home bases. .
“We call on the Inspector General of Police to uphold the integrity of the profession by investigating these allegations and ensuring those responsible are brought to justice," he said.
The PDP commended the efforts of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and the national leadership of the party for their support before, during and after the Ondo elections.
The party also appealed to its members to abide by the law despite the alleged threats and pledged to explore all legal avenues to seek justice.
