Former Edo State politician, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Monday rejected the decision to investigate Governor Okpeboro’s (Obaseki) administration, calling it a diversionary tactic to cover up the governor’s incompetence and lack of preparation for office.
Recall that Mr. Okpebolo had approved the establishment of a 14-member National Asset Verification Commission to investigate the administration of his predecessor.
The committee is tasked with examining the country’s assets and liabilities under the previous government.
However, the media aide of Obaseki School, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, in a statement to Naija News on Sunday, said the principal of the school runs the most transparent government in Edo.
He said Mr Okpebolo’s barrage of probes in the sky was a smokescreen to hide his incompetence and unpreparedness for office.
According to Mr Obaseki’s aides, Mr Okpeboro is devoid of ideas and lacks a clear vision to drive the development of the country, leaving the Edo governor reliant on cheap political maneuvers and his apparent incompetence. He pointed out that the investigation is meaningless in order to distract from the lack of direction. .
The statement read: “The 14-member National Assets Verification Commission was appointed by the Okpeboro administration on Monday to investigate the administration of its globally acclaimed predecessor, His Excellency Godwin Obaseki. Our attention has been drawn to the ludicrous and completely ridiculous statement of establishing an organization that has run one of the most transparent, accountable and enlightened governments in Nigeria’s history.
“This is yet another in the barrage of senseless investigations that the governor and a directionless government have embarked on since entering Dennis Osadebey Street through the back door. (MDA), to searches of government vehicles and other assets. The elected governor continues to show that he lacks ideas and lacks a clear vision, thus to buy time and distract from his incompetence and unpreparedness for the presidency. Instead, they relied on this empty pretense of investigation.

“We wish to advise Okpeboro to focus on governance and improving the lives of Edo people instead of covering up incompetence and wasting national resources with pointless investigations.
