The All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, has declared that he will not return for a third term as the Edo-Kita senator.
According to a report by Naija News, Oshiomhole disclosed this on Wednesday in response to a statement by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, at the Edo State Governor Monday Okpeboro’s valedictory meeting at the Red House.
Earlier, Mr. Akpabio expressed concern over the possibility of Sen. Oshiomhole being retired by Mr. Okpebolo if the Edo State Governor decides to return to the Senate.
In response, Mr Oshiomhole refuted Mr Akpabio’s concerns and clarified that Mr Okpebolo does not belong to his senatorial district.
Before being elected governor of Edo State, Okpebolo represented Edo Central Senatorial District.
During the session, Mr. Akpabio said, “Special Senator Oshiomhole, before I conclude, I was under the impression that he is from your senatorial district?”
Mr Oshiomhole immediately responded: “No, he’s from Edo Chuo.”
The Senate president added, “Okay, or I might make you retire when you come back.”
Oshiomhole said: “By the time he comes back, I might already be retired, because if you add eight years to the current number, I’m not going to be here for three terms.” answered.
Recall that Okpebolo emerged victorious in the September 21st Edo State governorship election, defeating the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Asue Ighodalo, and Labor Party’s Olumide Akpata.
