The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed confidence that it can retain power in the 2027 presidential election, saying the economic reforms being pursued by President Bola Tinubu are expected to have a positive impact.
The assurance was given by Bala Ibrahim, the party’s Director of Public Relations, in reaction to reports that the opposition parties are planning to join forces against Tinubu’s re-election.
Mr. Ibrahim said the APC was unfazed by coalition talks among opposition parties, insisting that the reforms currently being implemented by the Tinubu government would bring tangible benefits to Nigerians by the 2027 polls.
Speaking to Saturday Sun about the APC and the presidential opportunity, he said: But I think it’s also easy to say that most of the people who lost the election have anger, and that’s turning into hunger. That’s why they’re complaining. Even the president admits it’s because of the reforms.
“That said, it’s not a lifelong pain. It’s the kind of pain you experience when you go through change. At the end of the day, when the light at the end of the tunnel gets brighter, everyone will be happier.
“President Tinubu has won his first term. If he decides to run for a second term and the party gives him the green light, I guarantee he will be the winner. It’s time to start reaping the benefits introduced by the reforms.
