Pascal Obi, a former member of the House of Representatives who represented Ideato North-South Federal Constituency, has defected from the Labor Party (LP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Obi was formally welcomed into the APC fold by the Imo State APC leadership led by McDonald Ebele. The former councilor previously served formally as councilor at the district and local government level.
Speaking at the event, Obi expressed his determination to return to the APC, citing Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma’s “massive infrastructure development efforts” as his main motivation.
“Governor Uzodinma’s progress in infrastructure development has encouraged me to rejoin the APC. I have also been encouraged by the outstanding leadership of the party executives which led to the outstanding performance of the APC grassroots in the last local government elections. I would also like to thank you,” Obi said.
He also assured the party leadership of his unwavering support and loyalty and pledged to contribute to the party’s continued growth.
In his address, the APC State Chairman, Mr. McDonald Ebele, welcomed Mr. Obi back to the party and commended him for his decision to do so.
The event was attended by several political figures from Ideato South, highlighting Obi’s influence in the region.
Pascal Obi has had a diverse political career, previously serving as a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labor Party (LP) before returning to the APC.
