Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank, has expressed concern over the alleged use of land cancellation in Abuja as a means of political vendetta.
Mr Frank accused Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike of using the land revocation to target political opponents ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement released on Saturday, Mr. Frank claimed that Mr. Wike’s actions were aimed at persecuting and repressing opposition members who seek to oppose President Bola Tinubu.
He also warned those who opposed Wike during his tenure as Rivers State governor to prepare for similar treatment.
“Cancellation of land ownership is nothing but a Nollywood script,” Frank said, referring to the alleged cancellation of Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) belonging to former President Muhammadu Buhari and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas. and Mr. George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
He said: “The list of land allottees whose C of O was allegedly revoked by Wike is part of his grand strategy to harass and intimidate opposition members and others who may seek to challenge the President. Information is freely available to us that there is.” Bola Tinubu in 2027. ”
Mr. Frank said Mr. Buhari had already denied ownership of the land attached to his name and Mr. Wike allegedly revoked it, while Mr. Abbas owed nothing to the FCTA. He pointed out that.
He said every sane Nigerian knows that Mr. Wike, as a cabinet minister in the Tinubu administration, would not have the courage to dispossess the key officials of the administration he listed.
“Wike is therefore using their names as a cover to deflect criticism of land grabbing and property destruction in the FCT targeting poor and innocent Nigerians,” Frank said.
He called on Wike to provide evidence that top members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), political officeholders included in the list he published, actually owned the lands that were allegedly taken away. did.
“What he is doing in the FCT is no different from what he did as governor of Rivers State where he stripped C/O of his political opponents’ lands and demolished their properties,” he said.
