No, I signed a contract in 2011…it was a good contract! But my dad wanted me to give 100 percent to whatever I was doing! Especially after playing the first cut of Dami Duro’s video in his office! He knew it was game time!!! https://t.co/9HgSZ3D0Cv

Davido’s journey started with his debut single “Back When” in 2011, followed by the hit “Dami Duro” which made him famous. His first album, Omo Baba Olowo (OBO), was a mix of Afrobeats and other music styles that set him apart from other albums. Over the years, he has released many hit songs such as “If,” “Fall,” and “Fem,” performed with global stars such as Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj, and won awards from BET, MTV, and more. I did.
In 2016, Davido launched the record label Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) to support new artists. The label has helped grow the careers of artists like Mayorkun and Peruzzi.
Davido’s father, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, initially wanted his son to choose a different path. However, when he saw how serious Davido was about his music, he stepped in to support him and bought out Davido’s first contract, giving him full control over his work. This decision was the key to David’s success.
Today, Davido is one of Africa’s biggest music stars, filling big venues like London’s O2 Arena and inspiring other young artists across the continent. His story shows how passion, hard work, and the right support can lead to great success.
