Vice President Kasim Shettima humorously warned former Vice President Atiq Abubakar to anticipate previous oral exchanges as the 2027 general election approaches.
Naija News reports that the second Nigerian citizen issued this statement during a symposium in Abuja.
He was celebrating a variety of senior officials, including Atik, the 2023 People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate.
In a lighthearted way, Shettima said she was the “subcommittee” who aimed at “hot shots” in Attic in the 2023 presidential election.
However, he acknowledged that Atik, a respected elder politician, was gracefully criticized.
In particular, Shettima shared that he lovingly mentions Atik as “Baba” (meaning Hausa's “father”) in his private discussion.
Despite this fascinating terminology, Shettima playfully suggested that in the future Atik should develop more oral jabs on his own.
The audience discovered that the exchange was interesting and Attic himself smiled.
Furthermore, in his speech, Shettima called for all leaders to gather, regardless of their political affiliation.
He emphasized that African leaders should adopt home-made development strategies instead of relying on foreign initiatives.
“The tragedy of our time is that African leaders not only restricted to foreign blueprints, but also refused to release themselves from client state mentality and governance through hashtag activities.
“Whatever our differences between continents, one fact that cannot be eroded by our internal conflict is that we are in the age of machinery.
“And we cannot fight the development dilemma with spears and arrows, but the rest of the world is fighting the same battles as missiles and tanks. The world is not waiting for Africa to catch up.” Shettima said.
