The Labour Party (LP) has approved Peter Obi as presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
Abayomi Arabambi, the party’s national propaganda secretary, made this clear in a statement in Abeokuta, Ogun state on Friday.
He said the Labour Party’s National Labor Commission (NWC) is confident in Peter Obi’s ability to release President Bora Tinubu in the 2027 election.
The party has also approved Governor Alex Otti in Abia's re-election bid and Gubadebo Rhodes Vivar as the flag bearer of the party in Lagos.
Alabambi, who said the party is united under Obi’s leadership, added that Nigerians, especially young people, will vote on a large scale for party candidates.
He said, “Our main focus is to let the APC escape from the ballot box only if Nigerians wish, not through illegal means.”
He said, “Peter Obi will once again represent the LP in the 2027 presidential election and the party’s resolve to support Governor Otti’s re-election bid for the gubernatorial candidate in Lagos, in Abia and Rhodes Vivar. I repeated it.”
“We are united in our determination to bring better Nigeria under Peter Obi’s leadership."
Naija News reports that Obi was the Labour presidential candidate in the 2023 election. He came third behind Atik Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Bora Tinubu of the All Progressive Conference (APC).
