Agbo Major, national chairman of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), has argued that the Rabiu Kwankwaso faction will remain banished and will reject the party’s recent rejection of the national convention.
Speaking at a press conference held in Abuja on Saturday, the major said the conference held in Lagos on Tuesday was justified in his appearance as chairman and was supported by the court’s ruling.
His statement comes in response to a strong rejection from the Kwankwasos purporting that the Lagos Treaty is illegal and that Ajuji Ahmed is the legitimate NNPP national president.
On behalf of factions, NNPP propaganda secretary Ladipo Johnson dismissed the Major’s leadership and labeled it as a “rebellious group” without legal status.
He said, “As the recent decision of the ABIA High Court dated November 1, 2024 clearly enforces INEC and awaits a committee led by Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, awaits the resolution of all the issues of the court. It explicitly enforces the parties to be handed over to the committee, and also seamlessly enforces the bots all other organs of the party, as the same ruling is included in the party’s constitution (amended in 2022). I remember that it was mandated to be activated so that it could be done.
“All necessary responses were made with INEC to fully comply with this court’s decision, and on January 13, 2024, the assembly began in wards nationwide. A few days later, along with local governments, states and zones. It continued.
“However, the national convention scheduled for January 22, 2025 was temporarily suspended due to a provisional order from the FCT High Court. However, on February 4, 2025, the lifespan of the interim order passed. After that, we ended up at Rockview Hotel in Apaparagos.”
The major said the high points of the treaty include ratifying all parliaments from the ward to the Zonal, expelling Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso from the party and ratifying the Kwankwasiya group.
He added that other high points include a review of the party’s finances, a rejection of the alleged new logo and acknowledgement to return to the old logo, among other things.
He said, “The high points of the treaty included ratifying all parliaments from the ward to the zonal, ratifying the expulsion of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. Election of a new National Labor Commission led by Dr. Agbomajer. , National Chair (with the list), review of the party’s finances, rejection of the new logo as conditional, approval of approval to return to the fruit basket of Nigeria map logo.
“It is important to note here that on February 4, 2025, Dr. Bott, led by Aniebonam, completed the assignment as directed by the ABIA High Court. All related submissions have been made to INEC and are INEC records. I am sure the changes will be made in the coming days. I urge my body to comply with the rule of law and do the right thing.
“We again call for the remaining remains of the Kwankwasya Group, and leave our dear party peacefully and find cover somewhere as their leaders are doing now.”
