Former aspiring governor of the Labour Party (LP) of Anambra State, Valentine Ojigbo, has joined All Progressive Congress (APC).
The Naija news reports that Ojigbo, the Ojigbo, who abandoned the party by former Anambra Governor Peter Obi, will come barely 24 hours later.
Ozigbo joined the APC on Thursday in the ward in the Emesi region of the state along with former Labour Party (LP) secretary Nze Afam Okpalauzuegbu.
Ozigbo announced his asylum decision on Wednesday via his account, but said he has formally notified the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and the national president of his decision.
He repeated his deep respect for Obi as a leader.
Explaining why he abandoned the Labour Party, Ozigbo said that recent events have made it clear that it has come to be time to build something different for the people of Anambra state.
He added that his decision was about people, not party boundaries.
Meanwhile, Daniel Bwara’s special advisor on policy communications to President Bora Tinubu advised former Labour party member Valentine Ozigbo and his former presidential candidate Peter Obi to join the APC.
In a post via his handle, Bwara stated:
“We would also like to kindly invite you to join our party, All Progressive Congress (APC), the largest party in Africa.
“We also want to expand our invitation to Peter Obi to help us move Nigeria forward and join us to update people’s wishes.”
