Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, Minister of Housing and Urban Development to President Bora Ahmed Tinubu, threatened to abandon all Progressive Congresses (APCs) in Kano State.
The government appointee said he and his supporters would leave the party saying that Abdullahi Abbas or someone like him should be resurrected as chairman of the party in Kano State.
The Naija news reports that the ATA informed this at a Fagge Party Caucus meeting held at the Federal Office in Kano on Saturday.
He argued that despite a clear victory in the 2023 governoral election, the chairman’s remarks were the reason God took power from the party.
Ata said: The party will certainly fall again. We are not with such people, and no matter what happens, we don’t match them. They send us a message and we respond accordingly. ”
He characterized Abbas’s divisive remarks as profanity and denounced the APC’s loss in the 2023 election.
He warned that APC would lose again if Abbas was given another opportunity to lead it at Kano.
“We grew up with good morals. We know who God is, we respect the scholars and the elders and we do not compromise our values. That they bring him back If we insist on, we will leave and I swear, the party will fall again,” declared Ata.
He emphasized the need to replace Abbas with a respectable and respectable individual to ensure that the APC regain control of Kano.
According to him, power is given by God, not by votes or economic influence.
“Votes don’t give power, money can’t buy power, and even people don’t ultimately decide who rules. Gauna and Garo have won the election cleanly, but fraud has been against us. We went to court and proved we had been fooled. But in the end we challenged him, the power that withheld it from us. The one who gives it,” Ata added.
It is worth noting that this is the first time the Minister has publicly criticised APC leadership in Kano.
However, many believe his remarks stem from party leaders’ opposition to President Tinubu’s appointment as minister after removing Abdullahi Tijani Gwarzo.
