Uzodinma said this in a message to mark the 64th Independence Day celebrations in Owerri.
The governor said Nigeria’s progress was due to the united efforts, innovative and resilient spirit of the people, policy makers and stakeholders.
He highlighted some of the key areas of progress, including economic growth, infrastructure development, technological progress and innovation, healthcare, education, military progress, and sports.
Uzodinma said: “Our journey has been challenging, but we are extremely grateful to God for the progress we have made.
“Like many other countries that fought for independence, our story is one of unwavering resolve as a nation endured many years of civil war.
“The urgency of nation-building has become even more pronounced.
“Although we face obstacles, our unity is tested, and we have not been able to build the perfect nation that we all hoped for at independence, we have made remarkable progress. ” he said.
The governor said Imo has recorded transformative progress not only in infrastructure, education and economic development, but also in technical institutions that train graduates who can compete on the world stage.
He said road infrastructure has been improved to stimulate commerce in and around the state.
Despite the achievements, Uzodinma admitted that there are still some challenges.
He assured the people of the state that his administration would continue to work with the federal government to improve security, economic growth, infrastructure and peaceful coexistence of Nigerians.
He renewed his commitment to transparent and accountable government, pledging to continue to prioritize further infrastructure development and the social welfare of the Imo people.
The governor sought the support of all people and appealed to the people to give peace a chance to ensure the deepening of democracy and acceleration of development.
“We must actively participate in the search for solutions and emulate the patriotism of our Founding Fathers who made great sacrifices for freedom.
“Our diversity is our strength and our resilience is our sustenance,” he said.
