The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a shameful party seeking relevance.
The ruling party issued this statement in response to opposition parties’ submissions on President Bola Tinubu’s Independence Day speech.
Naija News reported that the PDP accused Tinubu of claiming achievements in his speech.
Opposition parties claimed that Tinubu’s speech exposed APC’s insensitivity to the struggles of Nigerians.
They claimed that Mr Tinubu’s speech was a “complete waste of time”, stressing that it failed to address the pressing economic and security issues currently plaguing the country.
The PDP condemned the speech for failing to recognize the hardships faced by millions of Nigerians, including economic hardship, unemployment and extreme poverty.
In response, the APC, through a statement by its Public Relations Director, Mr. Bala Ibrahim, said the reaction of the opposition stemmed from frustration over the failure of the ruling party to achieve.
He said, “Far from hiding its shame, the PDP claimed that the president’s speech was empty.
“What the PDP must understand is that since they left the political scene, sanity has returned to Nigeria and peace has returned to the country and the seat of power, Abuja.
“Since the PDP left office, the situation has improved day by day under the APC government. During the PDP era, there was no peace in Abuja and it was difficult for the sitting president to address the nation from Eagle Square. ”
“Under the APC-led federal government, Nigerians are experiencing peace of mind. Therefore, the PDP’s reaction to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s speech is consequential. We are just reacting to what the APC government has achieved that it failed to do. By the grace of God, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will take Nigeria forward.”
