South Africa has been hit by an unusual snowstorm, causing widespread disruption. A video from a lion sanctuary shows lions reacting strangely to snow.
An unusual snowstorm shocked South Africans last week. The country was brought to a standstill under a thick blanket of snow, with major highways closed and people trapped inside their homes.

Most of the animals don’t seem to mind the snow, but some seem confused by the white powder falling from the sky. “Here’s Luna and Snowdrop enjoying this new white thing we rarely see. Mother Nature can do whatever she wants, wherever she wants,” one of the videos says. It says in the caption.

Snow is not common in South Africa, but it does happen occasionally. The country also has some ski resorts, although they are not functional.
Suzanne Scott of GG Conservation, who has recorded the lions’ reactions to snow, said the lions were not bothered by the extreme weather, but were “intrigued and alarmed” by “unusual objects falling from the sky.” “I was doing it,” he said.
“South Africa had an unusually heavy snowfall in early spring, and this is the first time I’ve been able to photograph a lion in deep snow,” she told Yahoo News.
“The Lions can handle anything.”
The conservation group said on Instagram that the big cats are “survivors and warriors” who can cope with anything, adding that the lions were happily roaring through the snowstorm. “It was really interesting to see the new behavior of the lions. The lions who used the shelter and the ones who didn’t. Who seemed to like it?”
And who looked uncomfortable,” another post read.
The snow then disappeared. “Now things are back to normal. The snow disappeared as quickly as it came,” the post said, indicating the lions were returning to their normal environment.
