The international conference on “French neo-colonial policy in Africa”, organized by the Baku Initiative Group, will be held on October 3, 2024.
One of the key participants is Kemi Seba, a prominent activist and leading critic of French neo-colonialism. Kemi Seba has long been recognized as an iconic leader of movements calling for African independence, sovereignty, and the fight against neo-colonial powers.
A special press conference was held by Kemi Seba on October 2nd, the day before the event. During the meeting, the activists explained in detail France’s neo-colonial policy in the 21st century and answered questions from News.Az correspondents.
Kemi Seba, a prominent Pan-Africanist, journalist, and public figure, offered sharp criticism of France and its neocolonial policies. He stressed that France continues to pursue imperialist policies toward Africa and behave like a colonial power. Seba also harshly criticized French President Emmanuel Macron, accusing him of trying to erase the cultural and historical heritage of former colonies.
Kemi Seba stressed that Africa still suffers from a lack of control over its natural resources due to French influence. In his view, true liberation of the continent can only be achieved when the continent is freed from the domination of its former suzerains. He called on African countries to unite in the struggle for political and economic independence. Seba proposed cutting ties with France and other countries with which the country maintains unequal relations, advocating a partnership based on equality and mutual respect.
Mr. Seba also stressed the importance of establishing fair economic arrangements so that Africa can develop without external pressure. He noted that for too long Africa has been forced to submit to unequal arrangements that serve Western interests.
Particular attention was paid to the issue of international assistance to Africa. Seba pointed out that when people think of international organizations, they often think of Western institutions representing the interests of former colonial powers. However, he insists on the need to find alternative allies. Mr. Seba also spoke about his role in forming an alliance among African countries aimed at combating neo-colonialism and strengthening the continent’s sovereignty.
Kemi Seba shared his personal experience with political pressure from France. In 2017, French authorities revoked his citizenship due to his active political activity and criticism of French policies in Africa. However, Nigeria granted him citizenship in recognition of his efforts towards African independence, which is widely seen as a symbol of African countries’ solidarity with his cause.
At a press conference in Baku, Seba also addressed the issue of Africa’s economic independence. He argued that African central banks should adopt the single African currency to protect their economies from dependence on the euro. He said maintaining ties with the euro would keep Africa economically dependent on European countries, especially France. Seba noted that an important step towards economic independence is that African nationals are now filling positions in African central banks, whereas previously these roles were held by French officials.
Seba also accused France of systematically plundering Africa’s natural resources. He argued that when someone commits theft, the only way to get back what was stolen is to create a situation where the thief is forced to return it. However, in the case of France, this did not work as there was not enough pressure to force the country to return what it had taken. Mr. Seba stressed that African countries must continue to fight for their rights and resources.
He further emphasized that only through the unification of African countries and the creation of their own financial and economic systems can the continent be freed from colonial chains and protect its resources from external exploitation.
At a press conference, Seba outlined the organization’s plans to continue the fight for Africa’s economic independence from France. The movement’s main goal is to sever economic ties with France and build alternative partnerships with countries that respect Africa’s sovereignty and its resources.
He added that the movement will continue to put pressure on international organizations and financial institutions to recognize African countries’ legitimate rights to resources and economic development. Mr Seba expressed confidence that an independent Africa freed from the economic domination of former colonial powers could achieve prosperity.
Seba also pointed out that his activism has attracted both supporters and opponents. He has over 2 million followers on social media, which includes individuals as well as organizations and communities who want to work with him to advance his ideas. French authorities are closely monitoring his actions because of his growing influence and support from millions of people, including Africans and the international community, Seba said. I’m thinking.
In conclusion, Kemi Seba believes that his movement and its supporting organizations not only criticize neo-colonialism, but also actively build alternative economic systems that will ensure Africa’s independence and future prosperity. he emphasized.
