Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the last general election, has said that Nigerians, especially those in the northern region, are fed up with the current situation in the country.
Naija News reports that Kwankwaso said this while welcoming members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who defected to the NNPP in the state.
The former governor, who received the defected APC members from Dara, Kiru and Gware local government areas at his Miller Road residence in Kano, said the management of the APC was clearly against the poor masses.
He said the APC, which was established to relieve the plight of the poor masses, was now turned against them as insecurity and poverty were deeply entrenched in the fabric of Nigeria.
Mr Kwankwaso also said that Nigerians will change the current government in the 2027 elections.
He said: “Nigerians, especially those in the north, have suffered enough and no amount of pressure or intimidation will change their minds.
“Nigerians should reconsider the current system. It has become clear that the APC-led government is clearly against the poor masses and will never change.
“Regardless of their beliefs and plans to use the security agencies and INEC in the coming elections, it is now clear that it is not possible as Nigerians are tired and are certain to struggle for change. It’s obvious.”
The National Leader of the NNPP further stated that the defection incident is historic, adding that the number of people joining the NNPP from Dara, Kir, Gwale and Dawakintofa local governments is the highest in the affected areas. He said this shows that the structure has completely collapsed.
