Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Toyin Abraham has reacted to rumors circulating that she is in debt worth millions of naira.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that the fashion designer has summoned two Nollywood actresses, Toyin Abraham and Annie Idibia, claiming that he owes them millions of naira.
In a social media post, the designer, who did not want to be named, claimed that her colleague Idibia and another person named Gabriel Anthony have been in debt to her for some time.
In her response to the allegations, the actress said on Friday through her verified Instagram handle that the situation has been misunderstood.
She said she borrowed clothes for the filming of the movie “Malakia” when Gabriel suggested to her that “I have a friend who could lend me clothes.”
Additionally, the actress said that the costumes used on the runway were returned to Gabrielle after filming. But Gabriel grabbed the cloth and handed it to another person.
The actress further explained that she challenged Gabriel, who admitted that she gave the clothes to another person and informed the designer.
Her post reads: “I would like to address recent allegations regarding unpaid debts to fashion designers. They have been completely misunderstood and I would like clarification on what happened.
“During the production of the movie Malaika, we had a runway scene and needed a dress. We reached out to several designers, Tiana, to provide the dress. Additionally, our team One member, Gabriel, said his friend also wanted to donate a dress and she did too.
“I also bought a hairpiece from her, which I paid for in full. The dress she prepared was borrowed for the shoot, and when I finished using it, I returned it to Gabrielle, who brought it to me in the first place. I did.
“When I saw the allegations online, I immediately called Gabrielle and asked for an explanation. Gabrielle confirmed that she had told the designer that the dress had already been returned and then rented by someone else. So it’s no longer my responsibility.
“We hope this clears up any confusion. Further evidence includes a screenshot of the conversation between the designer and Gabrielle. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and support.”
