Port Harcourt: The Action Peoples Party (APP) was declared the winner of the chairmanship seat among the 23 local government areas in the state at the just-concluded local government area council on Saturday.
The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has declared 22 APP chairperson candidates as local government winners after the end of collation.
Chairman of the commission, Justice Adolphus Enebeli (rtd), declared the results at the RSIEC office in Port Harcourt, saying APP had won all the local government area chairpersonships in 22 out of 23 local governments. .
Enebeli disclosed that the results for the Etche Local Government Area and 319 parliamentary positions will be announced after the conclusion of the inquiry.
The RSIEC chairman said elections were held in 6,866 units in the state and 18 political parties participated in the elections.
He commended political parties and Rivers people for their electoral efforts.
Mr Enebeli said the process was smooth, safe, free, fair, reliable and transparent, adding that it was a success.
He said it was violent and most of the valuable local assembly polls were held in the state against all expectations.
The winners are: Vincent Reuben Oboo – Abua/Odual, Chibudom Eze – Ahoada East, Mr. Yekor Ikpolo – Ahoada West, Mrs. Tony Onyide – Akuku Tolu, Lazaro Gogote Nteogwile – Andoni, Sule Amakuree. Dr – Asari Tolu, Dame Anengi Balasua – Bonnie, Dr Harry Agilie – Degema, Chief Brain Gokupa – Eleme, David Omereji – Emohua.
Others include Monday Doumie – Gokana, Isreal Abosi – Ikwerre, Martins Nwigbo – Khana, Amb. Chijoke Ifunwo – Obio/Akpor, Prince Isaac Umejulu – Ogba Egbema Ndoni, Ishmael Ofolibika – Ogu/Bolo, Dr. Igwe Achesu – Okrika, Promise Reginald – Omma, Enyada Cookiegam – Opobo/Nkoro, Gift Okere – Oyigbo, Ezebunwo Ikemati – Port Harcourt and Matthew Nenubali Dike – Thailand.
