The Labor Party (LP) has expressed satisfaction over the possibility of Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 elections, to be the running mate of the LP’s Peter Obi.
Naija News reported that Kwankwaso recently expressed conditional interest as the former LP flag bearer’s running mate.
The former Kano State governor, who spoke in Hausa, expressed his readiness through a video distributed on his official account, provided “certain conditions are met.”
Acknowledging his rising political profile, Mr Kwankwaso said: I am his elder brother, a Ph.D., and I outperformed him when I was governor of my state. There is nothing wrong with representing Peter Obi, but only if certain conditions are met. ”
He also expressed the possibility of meaningful discussions with Mr. Obi, saying, “Once trust is established, we would be happy to engage in such discussions.”
Reacting to Kwankwaso’s remarks in an interview with Punch, LP National Secretary Umar Farooq said the move by the NNPP stalwart was a welcome development.
He also appealed to his former girlfriend not to kill the merger talks again, hinting that he is a better politician and has a higher education degree.
He said: “As a political party we support good governance and we want all candidates, former and incumbent, to be equally able to engage with like-minded people who share the party’s philosophy and ideology. We are giving them the opportunity to choose whether or not to date.” Labor Party.
“We are pleased that Mr. Kwankwaso has stepped down from the high horse he has been riding and offered himself to Mr. Obi as his vice president, seeing that he received over 6 million votes in the 2023 elections. Despite his so-called popularity in North Korea, Kwankwaso received less than 2 million votes.
“Again, we should stop talking about him being a bigger politician and a Ph.D. What on earth did he do as defense minister? On the other hand, this is why we advise always considering political dynamics to gauge the temperament of voters at a particular time.
“Of course we know that what will happen in 2023 will be different from 2027. If Obi and Kwankwaso are willing to come together and wrest power from the APC government, it will be in the interest of Nigerians. But again, we know that the incumbent government is not going to sleep and make the new move work. ”
