An Air India flight bound for Chicago was forced to land in a remote Canadian city on Monday due to a bomb threat, officials said.
The plane departed from Delhi and landed at Iqaluit International Airport in Iqaluit, Canada, around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to data posted by FlightAware. Iqaluit is the capital of Nunavut.
A spokesperson for Iqaluit International Airport told local media outlet Nuvanat News that “an unspecified bomb threat against Air India from a person within India” led to the emergency suspension. When the pilot became aware of the threat, the plane began preparing to land in Iqaluit.
Air India confirmed the incident in a post on X Tuesday.

Air India‘s statement added: “The aircraft and passengers are being re-screened in accordance with established security protocols.” “Air India has set up an airport agency to assist passengers until travel can resume.”
