The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has declared that the ruling party will soon have a stronghold in Rivers State.
Naija News gathered that Mr. Ganduje was in Abuja when Dr. Dawari Ibietela George, an ally of former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi and 2023 governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA), officially rejoined the APC. It was reported that a statement had been issued.
Members of the National Working Committee, including the Headquarters, were present at the APC National Headquarters. Also present were Victor Jadom, South South Vice Chairman, Hon. Titi Ganama, 2023 APC Deputy Governorship Candidate for Adamawa State, and Dr. George’s former House of Representatives colleague, Mr. John Johnson. Mr. Bimbo Daramola, Bello Ibrahim, His Royal Highness. Nadu Kalibo and Hon. Robinson Uwak. bar. The AA deputy governorship candidate in Rivers State, Tony Anyerohomu, has also returned to the APC along with George, along with other party leaders in Rivers State.
Ganduje described George as a “big fish” and a talented politician who will play a pivotal role in the party’s efforts to secure Rivers from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The former Kano State governor asserted that “Rivers State will become fully APC” while assuring that party structures would be established to accommodate George and other returnees.
Mr. Ganduje expressed optimism about the rebuilding and repositioning of the APC in Rivers State, highlighting the party’s commitment to serving the state and the people of Nigeria.
